Jewish and you’ve forgotten it all? Never learnt it in the first place?
Don’t know what to do, or how to do it?
Can’t read the Hebrew texts?………
Then this is the book for you!
“At Home with Judaism” is a straightforward and simple guide to practical Judaism – what to do, when to do it, and how to do it! Its emphasis is on Judaism as practised in the home rather than the finer points of synagogal ritual and ceremony, or the finer nuances of the biblical texts.
The Author
Dr Galgut is not a rabbi! He is also not a great yeshiva scholar! He is a Jew! A practising Jew who is also active in his community, in all the many facets of communal life, from lay leadership to lay readership and so much more besides!
As part of his many duties and responsibilities within the community he has found a consistent frustration within the Jewish community. Many ordinary Jews simply “don’t know what to do” or “can’t read Hebrew” to participate effectively. Other Jews have married people of other faiths, and still want to participate and acknowledge their Judaism and Jewish roots. There are also those who may be converting to Judaism and do not have enough knowledge to actively participate in the family activities that are part and parcel of Judaism. There are others who were born Jewish, but have never learnt what to do and when to do it and yearn for a simple straightforward way of participating in the Jewish traditions.
Who is the book for?
This user friendly book gives a basic overview of the practice of Judaism, with the appropriate instructions on what to do and what to say. The passages to be read in Hebrew are printed in Hebrew, followed by an English text transliteration so that it is easy to say the words without being proficient in Hebrew. This means that for any given occasion the basic information and the ability to perform like a star is made simple and easy.
